  3. The three major factors that control the biosynthesis and release of aldosterone are angiotensin II, adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH), and potassium. Of these, angiotensin II is almost certainly the most important; various factors can alter the adrenal responsiveness to this hormone.
